Welcome from the Executive Director
The Thrombosis and Atherosclerosis Research Institute (TaARI) is a beacon of hope in the fight against cardiovascular diseases. Located at the forefront of medical research, TaARI is dedicated to unraveling the complexities of abnormal blood clot formation, which is the underlying cause of heart attacks, strokes, and deep vein thrombosis. Together, these disorders are responsible for 1 in 4 deaths in Canada and worldwide.
At TaARI, a multidisciplinary team of world-renowned scientists and clinicians work tirelessly to advance our understanding of thrombotic and atherosclerotic diseases and their intersection with inflammation and infection. Their mission is to translate cutting-edge research into innovative therapies and preventive strategies that can save lives and improve the quality of life for millions around the globe.
The Institute’s research encompasses a broad spectrum, from the molecular mechanisms of blood clot formation to translational studies using models of thrombosis and atherosclerosis and to investigations into the impact of dietary and lifestyle factors on vascular health. TaARI’s comprehensive approach includes translational research, clinical trials, epidemiological studies, and the development of novel diagnostic tools.
With state-of-the-art facilities and a commitment to excellence, TaARI not only contributes to scientific knowledge but also plays a pivotal role in educating the next generation of researchers and healthcare professionals. Through public outreach and collaboration with other leading institutions, TaARI is at the vanguard of creating a world free from the burden of cardiovascular diseases.
